Novartis announces departure of oncology head
Novartis has announced the immediate departure of Herve Hoppenot, president of Novartis Oncology.
Mr Hoppenot has led the company's oncology business since 2010 but has now departed to pursue a new career opportunity outside the organisation. A permanent successor is set to be announced in due course.
In the meantime, Dr Alessandro Riva – the global head of development and medical affairs at Novartis Oncology – will take on the responsibilities of president on an interim basis, in addition to his current role.
Commenting on Mr Hoppenot's departure, the company said: "We thank him for his dedication and commitment to bringing breakthrough treatments to patients. We wish him all the best for his future success."
