Oxford Gene Technology launches acclaimed new FISH probes
Oxford Gene Technology has highlighted the acclaimed work it has done in developing a new range of non-human fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) probes.
Developed as part of an Innovate UK knowledge transfer partnership, the probes are intended for use in pig, chicken and mouse specimens, allowing for the detection of a wide range of chromosomal aberrations.
They were created using the company's rapid probe development capability and proprietary Chromoprobe technology, meaning the procedure is simple, safe and quick to use, with multiple FISH probes hybridised on the same slide.
With numerous applications in animal husbandry and research, the probes were developed alongside the University of Kent and has received an 'outstanding' award from Innovate UK, reserved for the top ten percent of knowledge transfer partnership projects.
Dr Martin Lawrie, executive vice-president of group manufacturing at Oxford Gene Technology, said: "We've demonstrated that the probes deliver results that make a real-world difference to UK businesses – highlighting the continued excellent quality of our Cytocell FISH probes, from design and rapid development through to reliable results."
