Pentax Medical equipment used in award-winning research

Pentax Medical’s i-scan technology has played a key role in helping a research team from Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust’s Queen Alexandra Hospital to win an international award.

The team – led by Professor Pradeep Bhandari – won a Cook Medical Marsha Dreyer Award at the ninth annual American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Crystal Awards, based on studies they carried out using the i-scan device.

Their paper – entitled ‘The learning curve for in-vivo characterisation of small colonic polyps: number needed to train (NNT) is 200 polyps’ – was recognised as being indicative of the highest quality standards in terms of leadership, research and scientific pursuit.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it will be sponsoring the forthcoming London Live Endoscopy Course at University College Hospital, which is taking place in September 2013.
