PerkinElmer appoints new environmental health head

PerkinElmer has announced the appointment of Jon DiVicenzo as a new corporate senior vice-president and overall president of its growing environmental health business.

From December 2nd 2013, Mr DiVincenzo will assume leadership responsibility for the division, which generates revenues of more than $1 billion (618.75 million pounds) annually.

Before this, he served as the president and chief executive officer of molecular biology reagent manufacturer Enzymatics, while prior to that he spent 18 years with Millipore, leading its bioscience and lab water divisions at various points.

Meanwhile, Maurice Tenney – who has led the environmental health business for four years – will assume a newly created position overseeing global operations and customer logistics for PerkinElmer.

Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, said: "Jon's deep market knowledge and strong track record of building and growing successful global businesses will enable him to play a pivotal role in helping PerkinElmer accelerate growth and innovation."

During the third quarter of 2013, the company achieved a revenue total of $231.9 million, up by four percent year on year.
