PerkinElmer to ally with LinaTech on cancer imaging systems

2nd November 2010

PerkinElmer has entered into an agreement with medical device company LinaTech over the development of new imaging technology for certain cancer types.

The collaboration will see the companies jointly develop, market and distribute cost-effective upgrades for legacy film-based radiotherapy systems, as well as imaging subsystems for radiotherapy device manufacturers.

This partnership has already yielded the LinaTech TiGRT Image Viewing System, a Food and Drug Administration-approved device that is being unveiled at the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology meeting this week.

Brian Giambattista, president of medical imaging at PerkinElmer, said LinaTech's history of success in this market makes it an ideal partner.

He added: "We look forward to very compelling outcomes from our development project, as we seek to create new technologies for the benefit of cancer patients by giving doctors and hospitals more imaging options."

In September 2010, the science firm announced the extension of its contract to provide OneSource laboratory services to the Derbyshire-based company Minerva Scientific.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800211710-ADNFCR
