Pfizer Animal Health highlights benefits of implanting calves
Pfizer Animal Health has highlighted the potential benefits offered to cattle farmers by implanting suckling calves.
Ahead of the imminent calving season, the veterinary medicine supplier has published a report stating that implants such as its Synovex C product can lead to significant weight gain in farm animals, leading to greater profitability later on.
Dr Gary Sides, a nutritionist for Pfizer Animal Health, observed that implanting can take place concurrently with other critical processes such as ear-tagging, de-worming and vaccination.
The company also stated that implantation will have no negative impact on either the value or reproductive performance of animals.
Dr Sides said: "Implants are one of the most profitable tools cow/calf producers have available to them."
Last month, parent company Pfizer completed its takeover of King Pharmaceuticals, a deal which will also see it add a number of new animal health assets to its portfolio, including several feed additive offerings.
