Philips Allura FD10 cardiac system aids Royal Preston Hospital

Philips has highlighted the benefits that will be achieved by the UK's Royal Preston Hospital following its purchase of a Philips Allura FD10 cardiac system.

The new catheterisation laboratory technology has been incorporated as part of the NHS facility's newly refurbished cardiac department, allowing staff to perform high-quality diagnostic procedures.

Among the advantageous features of the device are its efficient workflow, superb imaging and low X-ray dose, while the use of the Philips StentBoost tool provides enhanced stent visualisation to facilitate placement.

Its DoseWise functionality offers automatic exposure controls to maximise dose efficiency, while its special Xper dose settings also make it ideal for interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and paediatric procedures.

Caroline Mee, clinical manager for the Preston hospital, said: "We chose the Philips system as our first fixed cardiology imaging system due to its superior image quality, outstanding ease-of-use and previous experience of Philips' systems."

This week, the company also published data from a study conducted alongside the Maastricht University Medical Center, showing the effect of hospital lighting conditions on sleeping patterns among cardiac patients.
