Philips strengthens health sector focus with new CEO nomination
Philips has announced that Frans van Houten is to take over as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO) as it looks to improve its standing in the healthcare sector.
The electronics company has nominated Mr van Houten, who rejoins Philips after previous holding a variety of positions at the firm since 1986, has been nominated to take up the role on April 1st 2011.
He will replace current president and CEO Gerard Kleisterlee, who is set to retire from the company at the same time.
Jan-Michiel Hessels, chairman of Philips’ supervisory board, expressed confidence that Mr van Houten’s appointment will help “to continue Philips’ strategy to be a leader in the domain of health and wellbeing”.
He added: “Under his leadership Philips’ future will be in very good hands.”
Last month, Philips launched the new VasoCT intra-vascular interventional configuration for its Philips Allura Xper X-ray system, which allows for the assessment of ischemic strokes.
