ProStrakan announces partnership
ProStrakan has announced its partnership with Bayer Schering Pharma to develop a gel.
The exclusive licence will allow the companies to develop and commercialise Tostran – a two per cent testosterone gel used for the hormone’s replacement in hypogonadal men – in 65 countries around the world.
Under the terms of the agreement, ProStrakan will receive unspecified upfront payments, subject to the achievement of approvals and sales targets.
The company will also supply Tostran to Bayer Schering Pharma in Latin America, Canada, Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific region and Asia..
It will receive an undisclosed royalty rate on the sales generated as a result.
Currently marketed by ProStrakan in Europe under brand names including Tostran, Tostrex and Itnogen, the product will be named Fortigel in the US.
The company’s chief executive Dr Wilson Totten said: “Outlicensing Tostran to Bayer Schering Pharma in these territories is in line with our strategy of capitalising on the value of our products in parts of the world that are non-core for ProStrakan.”
Earlier this month, the organisation announced the US launch of Sancuso, a transdermal patch for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients.
