Qiagen forms partnership with Chinese Academy of Sciences

Qiagen has announced a collaborative relationship with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to develop new molecular testing solutions to enhance the safety of food products.

The CAS CAS/SIBS-QIAGEN Food Safety Research Collaboration officially started today in a signing ceremony held by Peer Schatz, chief executive of Qiagen and Dr Chen Yan, director of CAS.

Operational since mid-September, the partnership is based at the campus of the Institute of Nutritional Sciences in the Shanghai Institute of Biological Sciences.

Dr Yan comments: "This collaboration with Qiagen will help developing much needed food safety products, not only for the Chinese, but also for international markets."

He adds the partnership will aim to raise food safety standards and prevent any harm caused by pathogens to consumers in the future.

In recent days, Qiagen signed an agreement with molecular diagnostics firm Osmetech which will see the latter adapt at QIAplex-based respiratory viral test for use on its eSensor XT-8 molecular diagnostics system.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18796503-ADNFCR
