Qiagen sees sales growth in 2010
Qiagen has published its financial report for 2010, during which it was able to meet its growth targets for the year.
The science company's net sales for the 12 months increased by eight percent year-on-year at constant exchange rates to $1.09 billion (675.95 million pounds), or 12 percent when swine flu-related products are excluded.
During the year, the firm successfully launched its central QIAsymphony RGQ molecular diagnostics platform, while also observing growth in the personalised healthcare and companion diagnostics areas.
The company states that it expects its growth to be maintained into 2011 and 2012 as it continues to expand its presence and product offerings in regions such as the US and Asia.
Peer Schatz, chief executive officer of Qiagen, said: "Qiagen delivered solid results in a changing environment in 2010 and made significant progress in further expanding our position in our customer classes … by leveraging our global leadership in sample and assay technologies."
Last month, the company purchased a stake in the start-up business Alacris Theranostics in order to gain access to new cancer biomarker technology and research.
