Quintiles wins Ragan award for best social intranet

Quintiles has been presented with an accolade at the Ragan Communication Awards for iQ, its recently redesigned corporate intranet.

The innovative service claimed the best social intranet prize thanks to its comprehensive, fully-featured nature, its appealing visual design and the benefits it provides in enhancing employee interactions.

Launched last year with the aim of keeping the firm's 25,000 employees connected and engaged, iQ allows staff to create public profiles, follow each other, send messages and set status updates.

All workers can use the intranet to create or comment on a blog post, while senior executives are able to interact with entire business units.

David Coman, Quintiles' senior vice-president for communications and patient recruitment, said: "We are committed to building a more networked model of communication for both employees and the customers whom we serve. This award helps confirm we are making progress on our goal."

This comes after the company won the prize for best clinical research organisation at the Vaccine Industry Excellence awards earlier this month.
