Roche launches new sequencing software update
Roche has announced the global launch of a new software update that expands the capabilities of its 454 GS FLX Plus System.
The update significantly extends the range of amplicon lengths available for targeted next-generation sequencing studies using the system, helping researchers to obtain more complete coverage of target gene regions using fewer amplicons.
This will both simplify experimental design and improve the biological relevance of sequencing results, with early access testing of the system being led by prominent researchers in the metagenomics field.
Roche is also working to make these long-read developments available on its benchtop GS Junior System in 2014.
Frank Pitzer, president of Roche Sequencing Solutions, said: "This is another step in our continued efforts to drive high-quality long-read sequencing advancements for the genomics community."
This comes after Thermo Fisher Scientific last month renewed its agreement with Roche for the use of its Brahms PCT technology with the Roche Elecsys cobas e platforms.
