Sartorius launches membrane chromatography app

Sartorius Stedim Biotech has introduced a smartphone app for the Sartobind membrane adsorber portfolio that can be used in membrane chromatography applications.

The first Sartobind app has been optimised for iOS devices but can also run on Android phones, offering users a wide variety of useful features.

Its product finder tool helps in the selection of appropriate membranes required for capture chromatography, a process that is used to remove DNA, host cell proteins and other charged contaminants from a target molecule.

Meanwhile, its Ion Exchange Calculator helps to explain the interplay between pH and the isoelectric point of the protein of interest to beginners, with the flow rate calculator, isoelectric point list for proteins and viruses and comprehensive chromatography glossary also set to prove useful.

The company said: "The Sartobind App provides mobile users with useful selection and training tools to complement the product portfolio and provides links to all the literature available in the digital library."

Earlier this month, Sartorius announced that it will be postponing the planned sale of its industrial weighing division in order to ensure it is able to agree a fair price.
