Shire announces Dr Michael Rosenblatt has stepped down

6th January 2010

Shire has announced that Dr Michael Rosenblatt has stepped down as a member of its board committees.

In a statement, the global biopharmaceutical firm explained that Dr Rosenblatt is also no longer one of its non-executive directors on its board.

The news comes after Dr Rosenblatt recently took on a position at Merck.

His new role at the company is that of executive vice-president and chief medical officer.

Commenting on the move, Matt Emmens, chairman of Shire, said that Dr Rosenblatt has served the company well during his time with the firm.

“On behalf of the Shire board, I would like to thank Michael for his contributions and we wish him well in his new position at Merck,” he added.

Earlier this week, Shire said that at the close of business on December 31st 2009, its issued voting share capital was made up of 561,477,011 ordinary shares that had a nominal value of 5 pence.
