Shire launches second annual Excellence in ADHD Patient Group Awards

13th August 2015

Shire has announced the return of its annual Excellence in ADHD Patient Group Awards following the success of the inaugural edition last year.

The 2015 iteration of the awards scheme will once again celebrate the outstanding work done by patient advocacy organisations that aim to improve the lives of people with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

An international judging panel, including patient organisation representatives and mental health advocates, will select three winners according to strict criteria. Each will be awarded an unrestricted grant of 10,000 euros (7,110 pounds).

The awards are open to patient organisations based outside the US. The closing date for entries is September 28th 2015, with winners to be announced during European ADHD Awareness Week (October 19th to 25th).

Tom Croce, head of global patient advocacy at Shire, said: "Following an overwhelmingly positive response to last year's Excellence in ADHD Patient Group Awards, we are delighted to again be celebrating some of the outstanding contributions patient groups make to people's lives."

Earlier this month, the company launched a bid to acquire Baxalta, which was rebuffed. Shire will continue to explore its options to push the deal through.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801797440-ADNFCR
