Shire presents awards to ADHD patient groups
Shire has recognised the good work of patient groups working with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) sufferers through an awards programme.
The company has announced the winners of its 2015 Excellence in ADHD Patient Group Awards, which celebrate outstanding projects led by patient advocacy organisations that aim to improve the lives of people affected by the condition.
Unrestricted grants of 10,000 euros (7,320 pounds) were presented to three winning groups – the UK's Dundee and Angus ADHD Support Group, Canada's ADHD Kids Rock Society and the Spanish Asociacion ANDAH TDAH.
The awards are developed, funded and organised by Shire, and form part of its patient-centric approach to providing support for people living with ADHD and their caregivers.
Tom Croce, head of global patient advocacy at Shire, said: "This year, we received a large number of first-rate entries and were extremely impressed how each project has positively impacted people affected by ADHD."
Last month, the firm received EU approval for Intuniv, its new non-stimulant ADHD treatment for children and adolescents, further underlining its commitment to supporting patients affected by the disorder.
