Siemens Healthcare to adopt EHR Developer Code of Conduct

5th July 2013

Siemens Healthcare has announced that it has officially adopted the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Developer Code of Conduct, a move that will increase the company's transparency and accountability.

The code was developed by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society EHR Association and establishes transparent industry principles to support safe healthcare delivery and ensure that EHR systems are developed a high standard.

Although Siemens already conforms to a large amount of the code's guidelines – including its commitment to product design, development and deployment in support of patient safety – the firm believes the code will help to foster the creation of a learning healthcare system.

Dr John Glaser, chief executive officer for health services at Siemens Healthcare, said this move "demonstrates a commitment to developing solutions that are focused on meeting our customers' needs and, more importantly, the needs of their patients".

Last month, the company announced a new agreement with Janssen pertaining to the development of a companion diagnostic test for an investigational heart failure therapy.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801608800-ADNFCR
