Sigma-Aldrich purchases Resource Technology Corporation
Sigma-Aldrich has announced the acquisition of Resource Technology Corporation as its looks to expand its presence in the analytical chemistry sector.
The move will see Sigma-Aldrich take control of an asset portfolio including analytical reagents, standards, separation consumables and reference materials, complementing the firm's existing Supelco and Fluka brands.
Sigma-Aldrich expects that the takeover will help it to better serve the pharmaceutical and environmental sectors, thereby helping it to achieve its strategic growth aims.
This comes after the firm completed the buyout of the reference standards and materials provider Cerilliant Corporation in December 2010.
Russel Gant, vice-president of the analytical research business for Sigma-Aldrich, said: "The RTC acquisition will allow Sigma-Aldrich to provide customers with an even broader range of specialised, analytical standards and services."
This week, the company also announced that its Sigma Life Science division will be working with Cofactor Genomics on the development of a new public rat genome database.
