Smith and Nephew appointment ‘will add value to wound management’

Smith & Nephew has announced the appointment of Thomas Dugan as president of the North American business of its wound management division.

Mr Dugan has joined the company from SonoSite where he was employed as senior vice-president of global marketing and US sales for three years, with the company focusing its strategy on point-of-care visualisation in that time.

He has 27 years of experience within the healthcare sector and has held senior positions at Datascope subsidiary InterVascular and Tyco Healthcare division US Surgical.

Mr Dugan has also help sales, marketing and international management positions at CR Bard and Puritan Bennett, after starting his career in the Critikon division of Johnson & Johnson.

Joe Woody, president of the advanced wound management business at Smith & Nephew, said: “His broad range of marketing, sales, business development and operations experience will add considerable value to Smith & Nephew’s advanced wound management division.”

He added that the present is an exciting time for the company, while he is excited to add an accomplished executive to the team

In November 2007, Smith & Nephew announced the sale if its vascular business unit by its endoscopy division to the InaVein investor group.
