Smith and Nephew launches Allevyn Gentle Border Sacrum

15th June 2011

Smith and Nephew has announced the launch of a new wound dressing product for use in the sacral area.

Allevyn Gentle Border Sacrum is indicated for the treatment of exuding, granulating wounds located on or near the sacrum or at the base of the spine, featuring a unique design created with the input of clinicians.

It is able to conform to the distinctive contours of the body for greater flexibility and gentle adherence, while its use of silicone gel adhesive means it is also suitable for fragile or sensitive skin.

Smith and Nephew is launching the dressing alongside a new professional education programme, Classroom to Bedside, which is focused on skin and wound care.

Patricia Burns, Smith and Nephew's vice-president of clinical affairs for advanced wound management, said: "We are pleased to introduce this new product and education programme, as they demonstrate our long-standing commitment to innovation and education."

This comes in the same month that the company launched its Pico negative pressure wound therapy system, which recently received CE Mark approval.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800579802-ADNFCR
