Smith and Nephew launches Versajet II wound care device

Smith and Nephew has announced the launch of its Versajet II hydrosurgery system for precise excision during surgical debridement.

Released by the company's advanced wound management division, the new device is available in Europe and North America and allows users to remove necrotic tissue, bacteria and contaminants from wounds and soft tissue injuries.

It does so using a thin saline jet that spares viable tissue and optimises surgical debridement, thus reducing wound closure time and minimising treatment costs.

Other clinically proven benefits of the Smith and Nephew device include its key lock connection mechanism, multi-functional foot pedal and reliable connection and gravity prime.

Roger Teasdale, president of the company's advanced wound management division, said: "We are continually working with our customers to provide them with world-class products that meet their surgical needs."

Last week, Smith and Nephew introduced its new Truclear SIM Morcellation Simulator, for use in gynaecology training.
