Sparkpr appoints managing director for UK business

Sparkpr has announced the appointment of Toby Walsh as managing director for its UK business.

The US-based tech PR agency is seeking to expand its presence in the Tech City area in order to better serve clients and win new business from European start-ups and global brands, reports PRWeek.

As such, the company has chosen to recruit a tech PR specialist whose most recent role was that of associate director at Waggener Edstrom, a position he left in April 2012 to become an independent consultant.

In his new post at Sparkpr, he will work with leading client companies such as BrightEdge, Etsy, Moo.com, ShowCaster, Torch Partners, Vidyo and YapStone.

Alan Soucy, chief executive officer for Sparkpr, said: "London is becoming an increasingly interesting market for us – it has world-class universities, attracts significant investment, has a thriving technology scene and serves as a hub for the wider European market."

The company was founded in 1999 and has become one of the world's largest independent PR firms, winning The Holmes Report's technology agency of the year prize for 2012 earlier this year.
