Tecan appoints new corporate development head

Tecan has named Dr Klaus Lun as its new head of corporate development, effective as of June 4th 2013.

Dr Lun – a veteran of the life science industry with extensive management experience – will also join the company's management board and will play a key role in helping Tecan expand via carefully selected acquisitions and collaborations.

Most recently, he was employed by Molecular Devices as vice-president of global product marketing, while previous employers include Leica Microsystems and Amaxa.

The appointment will aid Tecan's efforts to evolve from a highly specialised instrument supplier to a provider of complete solutions.

Dr David Martyr, chief executive officer of Tecan, said: "Whilst at Leica Microsystems, I already worked successfully with Klaus Lun on a number of takeovers and have come to know him as an extremely focused and well-organised manager with a strategic way of thinking."

Since being appointed as chief executive in October 2012, Dr Martyr has significantly overhauled the leadership team of Tecan, with the aim of ensuring the firm is positioned for rapid growth in the near future.
