Teva launches generic version of cardiovascular therapy cilostazol

29th November 2013

Teva has announced the launch of a new generic version of the cardiovascular therapy cilostazol, which is being made available in 100mg tablets.

The Teva version of the drug went on sale on November 25th 2013 and are available in the Teva 360 livery, sold in packs of 56.

Cilostazol is the generic version of the branded product Pletal, a cardiovascular disease treatment sold by Otsuka in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Asia and the US.

Kim Innes, commercial director at Teva, said: "We are pleased to be able to add cilostazol tablets to our portfolio and to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to pharmacy."

This latest addition to Teva's generic range comes after the company introduced its own off-label irbesartan/HCTZ tablets last month, for use in the treatment of hypertension.

It launched on the first day following the expiry of the patent on the originator medicine, the Sanofi product Co-Aprovel.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801667062-ADNFCR
