Teva reports positive trial data for female fertility aid

Teva has announced the results from a new study of Milprosa, its investigational weekly progesterone vaginal ring for luteal supplementation among women undergoing in vitro fertilisation.

During the phase III study, the effectiveness of Milprosa was compared to a progesterone gel-based therapy, with the data showing that Teva's therapy offered comparable levels of efficacy.

Moreover, results from a patient satisfaction survey showed that women generally found Milprosa was more convenient, less stressful and less messy, as well as reducing the risk of leakage.

Teva believes its product can offer numerous benefits for patients and will help to address an unmet clinical need.

Nancy Ricciotti, senior director of clinical affairs at the research and development division of Teva Women's Health, said: "We hope to use our legacy in women's health to help women dealing with infertility achieve their reproductive goals."

This comes after the company recently announced positive clinical data for a potential new dosing regimen of Copaxone, its approved therapy for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
