Teva UK launches Latanoprost plus Timolol eye drops
Teva UK has added to its ocular health portfolio through the introduction of Latanoprost plus Timolol eye drops.
The new product is a generic version of the Pfizer therapy Xalacom and is indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients affected by open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
It becomes part of the company's award-winning Teva 360 livery and is the second product launch of the year by Teva, following its introduction of standard Latanoprost eye drops last month.
Kim Innes, commercial director at Teva, said: "As the leading generics company in the country and with the widest portfolio of our competitors, Teva continues with strong product launches."
The Latanoprost eye drops released by Teva last month were an off-label equivalent of the branded Pfizer product Xalatan, introduced by the company immediately following the expiration of the patent on the original drug.
Ms Innes said generic products of this kind are more affordable for pharmacies and help to reduce costs for the NHS as a whole.
