Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new cryopreservation reagents

Thermo Fisher Scientific has expanded its cryopreservation reagent portfolio with the addition of the Thermo Scientific HyClone HyCryo and HyCryo-STEM cryopreservation media.

These new product additions have been designed to help researchers maximise the preservation, recovery and growth of post-thaw cells for a range of general cell culture and stem cell applications.

HyCryo media is a serum and animal component-free product intended for cryogenic preservation and storage of standard cell lines, while HyCryo-STEM specifically enhances cell recovery and post-thaw growth of pluripotent stem cells and neural progenitor cells.

They can easily be incorporated into a researcher's existing cell culture workflow and processes, as the media can simply be added directly to prepared cells and transferred to a Thermo Scientific Nunc Cryovial.

Roberta Morris, business director at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Cell culture scientists that bank cell lines need the assurance that their cell lines are secure during cryogenic storage while maintaining their viability and integrity."

Last month, the company expanded its product range with the acquisition of US-based picoSpin, the creator of the world's first miniature nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer.
