Thermo Fisher Scientific names new scientific advisory board members
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the appointment of three new members of its scientific advisory board.
Dr Andrea Califano, founding chairman of the department of systems biology at Columbia University, has joined the team, as has Dr Arnold Levine, professor emeritus of systems biology at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
Finally, Dr Aviv Regev – a core member of the Broad Institute and an associate professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – has also been added to the board, which was founded in 2010 to give the company access to insights from some of the world's leading centres of health, science and education.
Each of the new appointments is a pioneer in their chosen field of study and will offer valuable insight to the firm's future research projects.
Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher, said: "They bring a depth of understanding from the academic and research communities that will help inform our strategies for advancing our customers' work in computational and systems biology, genomics and cancer research."
This comes after the company recently allied with the University of California, San Diego to launch a new innovation grant scheme in honour of the late life science pioneer Duane Roth.
