Thermo Fisher Scientific sees record performance in Q2 2013
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, during which it achieved a record-breaking performance.
The company's revenue rose by four percent year on year to a record $3.24 billion (2.11 billion pounds), while its earnings per share grew eight percent to a benchmark figure of $1.32.
During the period, Thermo Fisher was able to introduce three innovative mass spectrometry platforms and strengthen its research capabilities in Asia-Pacific by establishing a new China Innovation and Technology Training Centre.
The company was also made progress with its takeover of Life Technologies, following the agreement of a merger deal in April 2013 worth around $13.6 billion.
Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "I'm pleased to report that the integration planning teams are making great progress. We're excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to closing the transaction early in 2014."
