11th July 2008

Thermo Fisher Scientific is the winner of a pharmaceutical and life sciences award from Microsoft.

It has been crowned the victor in the Discovery and Product Innovation category in the best-in class Microsoft 2008 Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Innovation Awards.

Michael Naimoli, the IT giant’s US life sciences industry solutions director, said the firm is recognised for "exemplifying" how technology can empower people to connect better, collaborate and make informed decisions to drive business success.

"We are very pleased to have received this honour and recognition in the pursuit of excellence in discovery and product innovation from Microsoft," said Dave Champagne, Thermo’s vice president and general manager of Informatics.

The award, which also went to AstraZeneca, was announced at the Drug Information Association’s 44th annual conference.

According to Thermo Fisher Scientific, it provides world-class analytical instrumentation, lab equipment, automation technologies, reagents and consumables, and LIMS solutions to more than 350,000 customers within its sectors.
