UK pharmacy celebrated in Dusseldorf
Two UK academic pharmacists have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to their field at this year's opening ceremony of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) annual congress.
The work of both professor of pharmacy practice at the University of Leeds Theo Rayner and University of Nottingham professor of social pharmacy Claire Anderson was celebrated at the event.
Mr Rayner was the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement in Pharmacy Practice Award, while Ms Anderson received an FIP Fellowship.
Responding to her accolade, Ms Anderson told the Pharmaceutical Journal: "It’s very nice to be recognised for what one's done, because when you do it you don't set out to get recognition, you do it because you want to and for the greater good of the profession."
The award for Ms Anderson is all the more impressive given the fact she now joins an elite group of only eight UK pharmaceutical professionals to be granted an FIP Fellowship.
Held in Dusseldorf on September 29th, the annual congress saw a total of 16 pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists honoured this year.
