Virbac makes product donation to aid pumas in Bolivia

4th March 2013

Virbac Animal Health has made a product donation to the Bolivian charity organisation  Communidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) to help care for female adult puma triplets living in an animal refuge.

The non-governmental organisation has received a supply of the medical castration implant Suprelorin to help protect the animals from the heightened risk of epilepsy they suffer when they are on heat.

Using this treatment, the animals will experience a reduced level of sex hormone production, decreasing the chances of any of them suffering an epileptic fit and falling from one of their platforms, resulting in injury or drowning in the water below.

Jon Cassidy from CIWY in the UK praised Virbac for its contribution, saying: "We're very grateful to them for supporting our work and giving these three wonderful animals an enhanced quality of life."

The company is the leading dedicated veterinary pharmaceutical company in the world, employing around 2,900 people and operating seven production sites and five research centres across the globe.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801550458-ADNFCR
