Welch Allyn demonstrates new technology at AAFP meeting

Welch Allyn is showcasing two of its latest medical technology offerings at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) scientific meeting in San Diego this week.

Running from September 24th to 28th 2013, the event provides the company with an opportunity to demonstrate its connectivity-ready CP 150 electrocardiograph device, which offers benefits such as ease of use, flexible report formatting and an intuitive design and functionality.

It will also be presenting its iExaminer handheld ophthalmic imaging device, which allows users to capture, store, send and retrieve retinal images from the Welch Allyn PanOptic Ophthalmoscope using their iPhones.

According to the manufacturer, these products make it easier for family practitioners to administer tests, reduce documentation and share patient data with systems inside and outside the office.

John Haberstock, senior manager for core business and ambulatory care at Welch Allyn, said: "Both devices help improve staff productivity and workflow by gathering patient data … but it is the intangible benefits like ease-of-use, reliability and speed that providers and patients will appreciate the most."

Last month, the company announced that it has teamed up with Heart to Heart International to launch a joint charitable initiative called Ripple Effect, which will help medical students contribute to the wellbeing of people in poorer countries.
