Welch Allyn to assist humanitarian work in Haiti
Welch Allyn has announced a new partnership with Heart to Heart International that will see it assisting efforts to improve healthcare provision in impoverished Haiti.
The collaboration will involve members of Welch Allyn's staff travelling to the nation to assist in the final construction of a new healthcare clinic in Place l'Or near Leogane, while also providing daily medical assistance.
Moreover, it will help to train Haitian doctors and nurses in how to use Welch Allyn diagnostic devices that it has donated to local clinics in Leogane and Port-au-Prince.
Since 1998, Welch Allyn has donated more than $11 million (7.25 million pounds) in medical equipment to help deliver vital patient care in underserved regions.
Sue Mangicaro, director of clinical affairs at Welch Allyn, said: "I am proud to be part of a company that cares not only about the people in its own communities, but also those around the world."
Earlier this week, the company attended the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society trade show in New Orleans, where it demonstrated innovative products such as the EarlySense Vitals Surveillance System.
