Align Technology unveils new iTero Element Intraoral Scanner

Align Technology has demonstrated its next-generation iTero Element Intraoral Scanner at the recent International Dental Show in Cologne.

The new device offers a number of practical and functional benefits compared to previous iterations of the system, including a 40 percent smaller and lighter wand with built-in controls, a 19-inch high-definition, multi-touch display and integrated gyro technology.

It has also been engineered to enable a scan speed that is 20 times faster, with colour imaging making it possible to easily distinguish between gingival and dental tissue for more precise clinical evaluation.

Moreover, the iTero Element includes the Invisalign Outcome Simulator, an exclusive chairside application that allows doctors to help patients visualise how their teeth may look at the end of Invisalign treatment.

Timothy Mack, Align Technology's vice-president of business development and general manager for the iTero brand, said: "The development of the iTero Element scanner is a further step towards our vision of digital dentistry and providing our customers with best-in-class digital services."

The company experienced double-digit growth last year, thanks to the continued success of its flagship Invisalign range.
