Communication; be it verbal, written or visual is essential in our everyday lives. It is also essential in our work lives, even more so if you work in sales. But whatever your role or preferred communication channel it is essential that the person on the receiving end also has the skills to interact and communicate effectively with you.
This is why I think it is great that Royal Canin had announced that they will be hosting a series of one-day workshops to help consulting vets and nurses improve their client relationships through better communication.
These training workshops are a great idea in my eyes and will not only help consumers, but also the relationship with the industry. Better communication skills will provide vets and nurses with a variety of benefits, including:
- A wider understanding of the products and how best to advise customers on which products to use
- A resultant increase in product sales which will help the practice to remain profitable
- The ability to gain more confidence in themselves and the way that they communicate with their customers
- Help to provide a better service to customers
Royal Canin in particular relies on vets and nurses to sell their products and if the vets and nurses have great communication skills they will be in a far better position to confidently suggest products to the pet owners. Resulting in higher sales for the reps themselves.
Sales reps know how important communication skills are and they pride themselves on the great skills they have. On top of this the majority of animal health sales reps have even been veterinary nurses themselves, so they understand the problems and they know the solutions. It is then all about sharing that message and letting the nurses and vets know that you can help them to keep their customers happy and their pets healthy. But once the sales reps leave the room the communication then becomes the responsibility of the nurses and vets.
The benefits of improved communication is clear across the board. A win, win situation for all! We want to hear your views on whether these workshops are something you would value. Let’s get talking!
