Tips for Graduates Looking for Commercial Roles in Healthcare & Life Sciences

Lis Basnett
Tips for Graduates going into Life Science
Having worked on my fair share of graduate roles and communicating with clients I have collated a shortlist of some things to consider when you are applying for roles!
- It’s important for client facing roles that you can communicate in clear and simple language (or in depth on your specialism)
- The Company expects you to have a level of understanding of the position but do not want someone to memorise and repeat the full job description
- Customer facing experience, work experience, lab roles or internships stands people in good stead – make sure you utilise the experience you have a pull out the transferable skills you have developed
- Companies are also keen to learn about you and see that you are a well-rounded person, don’t be afraid to share hobbies and your favourite pass-times
- Fully commit to interview processes! Even if an interview is virtual, respect the interviewer’s time by dressing smart, being in a quiet area with minimal distractions, arriving to sit in the virtual lobby a few minutes early and maintaining good eye contact from across the screen!
- Do plenty of company research and plan questions in advance to ask during the interview
