We caught up with Jake to find out how he was getting on in his role 1 year on

It can sometimes be forgotten the positive impact recruitment agencies have on people’s lives. All of the consultants at Zenopa are here to listen, support, guide and help each candidate secure their ideal role with as much advice as possible.

We caught up with candidate Jake, who we helped find a role at Storz. A year one since he joined, we wanted to find out how he is getting on and see how much his life has changed….

What were you looking for when you were seeking a new role?

I really wanted to work for a company that would offer career progression opportunities and personal development, more stable working hours, good prospects and job stability as everything with my current employment at the time was up in the air, good benefits and packages, and of course a salary increase. 

What benefits have you had since securing your role?

I’ve had a huge injection of confidence and self-esteem. My life has changed massively since March 2017. Before I joined Storz I worked 45-50 hours per week and I was nowhere near the money I am making here. I hardly ever had weekends off, and my rota was all over the place.

With Storz, as an OST at Royal Derby Hospital I have got my weekends to myself (something that I haven’t had at all in the past 4 years); I have a fixed rota and the same starting/finishing times every week. My current job is very fascinating, every day I learn something new and I am able to enhance my skills and knowledge in the field of medicine and human biology; work is not a chore – it is a pleasure! Also, with more money every month I was able to buy a car and now I am saving for a house deposit.

How did you find the recruitment process? 

It was a bit stressful at first; Mostly because I haven’t had much of exposure to interviews and I did not know what to do/say to ‘sell myself’. My recruiter was amazing and assisted me throughout the entire process. My interviewing process was made up of 3 stages. I was helped and supported with every single one. We had a couple of mock interviews which definitely enhanced my confidence and made me feel a bit more calm about the entire process. The regular updates/ checks (where I was with my interview prep) every few days helped me to stay on the top of the prep. Honestly, I couldn’t done without the support and help provided. 

Has your work/life balance improved?

Massively! I work less and have more money in my account every single month so I can do more stuff after I finish work and on my weekends! For the past 12 months, for the first time in my life I work to live not live to work! I have my afternoons and evenings to myself so I was able to go back to the gym and join all those classes I always wanted to attend. Also, with the new annual leave allowance I was able to go on longer holidays and I did not have to worry about not having money on my last day of holidays. 

How did you find the service provided to you by Zenopa?

On a scale from 1 to 10? 150! As I mentioned earlier the team at Zenopa was a massive help throughout. I think they knew how much I wanted that job and how much I cared and everyone did everything they could to help me; Mock interviews were organised, I was sent thousands of prep materials – competency based questions and motivation fit questions; and great guidelines and hints of how to answer some interviewing questions. All of this helped me through the interviews and essentially changed my life, Thank you!
