Role Overview

Lead innovative microbial virus projects aimed at commercialising microbial virus-based technologies to address significant animal welfare, farming and environmental challenges.
The successful candidate will lead a small team of microbiologists and oversee the identification and characterisation of viruses with potential as active agents to favourably modify relevant microbial ecologies.

Role Requirements

Lead and manage a small team of microbiologists, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Oversee the progress of multiple microbial virus projects, ensuring timely and successful completion of milestones.
Lead the identification and characterisation of viruses with potential to modify microbial ecology in beneficial ways.
Establish streamlined processes screening and characterising viruses and design in vitro experiments to evaluate the efficacy and safety of microbial viruses in addressing animal welfare and environmental challenges.

Person Specifications

PhD in Microbiology, microbial virology, or a related field with extensive knowledge in the isolation and characterisation of viruses.
Experience Managing a team in a Laboratory .
Proficiency in project management software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Experience in providing submissions and support to regulatory advisors.
Demonstrated success in managing research projects from conception to commercialisation.
