2022 BSAVA Event

The BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association) will be holding a meeting for its representatives in 2022. This will consist of a range of activities including but not limited to lectures, debates, plays, and interactive sessions.

The event will be held at Manchester Central venue between the 24th and 26th of March. This one will take a different approach to the ones prior, with more interactive experiences involving audience participation.

The main focus will be on theatrical performances which are used to enhance essential skills like communication and time management for vets. They have been marketed as “Day in the life of…” and will very much so use role play to explore and discuss recent clinical findings.

Across the three-day period we will see topics such as anaesthesia, neurology, and reproduction.

Sheldon Middleton, President of the BSAVA, said that “Congress 2022 represents many firsts for BSAVA. It is the first hybrid event, not just for the organisation, but I believe, the UK’s small animal veterinary community. It is also the first time the event is being held in Manchester, and the first time we will have delivered CPD through the dramatisation of in-practice experiences.”

Chair of the event council, Paul Higgs, explained that “While we are covering the usual range of disciplines – from orthopaedics and ophthalmology to cardiology and canine medicine – the programme reflects our growing understanding of how individuals learn best. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, to test newly acquired knowledge and get hands on. For the first time, delegates will be able to drop in on practicals, at no further charge.”
