3M and Clinical Architecture launch new interoperability solution
3M has allied with Clinical Architecture to create an advanced interoperability solution called the 3M Healthcare Data Architecture.
The new system allows medical terminologies to be mapped and managed, while also offering content integration and standardised healthcare data all in real-time at the point of data exchange.
Combining Clinical Architecture's advanced mapping engine and user toolset with the content of the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary, it is designed to offer a practical approach to achieving semantic interoperability of coded, computable data.
Anthony Carrozzella, business director for clinical terminology at 3M Health Information Systems, said this system will make it easier to deliver meaningful patient data.
"Meaningful data is essential to better patient care, more informed clinical decisions, lower costs and increased research opportunities," he added.
According to 3M's latest financial report, the company saw a 14.1 percent year-on-year increase in sales during the second quarter of 2011.
