3M Healthcare to benefit from improved belt product

5th March 2009

3M Healthcare could benefit from its parent company’s new line of metal working belts, it has been revealed.

The firm has developed a revised version of its Cubitron belt formulation for use in medical implant and engineered castings manufacture.

It has been announced the new 3M product, which also has applications in the gate and stock removal sector, is built to last around 20 per cent longer than its previous versions.

However, the new Cubitron belt will not be any more expensive than its predecessors, with the manufacturer confirming it will be available later this month.

Commenting on the launch, product manager for 3M’s Abrasive Systems Division Henry Blackman said: “Some intensive users … have to change belts several times a day, and increased belt life means machines can work harder for longer.”

Last month, 3M announced the launch of a new product that aims to detect levels of noise within the workplace and address the need for hearing protection.
