3M product ‘could help government reach renewable energy targets’

25th September 2009

3M has unveiled its latest equipment – the ACCR (Aluminium Conductor Composite Reinforced) – which it says has the ability to improve the connectivity between offshore windfarms and onshore grids.

Designed as a drop-in replacement for existing electrical conductors, the product is capable of doubling the transmission capacity of a line and can help tackle problems with disputes over planning, 3M adds.

Furthermore, it could also assist remote outposts of land-based power networks near new offshore windfarms to be upgraded from their low capacity roles.

Earlier this month, 3M launched another range – its next-generation feature-rich, ultra-portable MPro Pocket Projectors, which are designed to be used by people of all professions who wish to share information while on the move.

Some of the features they boast include enhanced battery life and the ability to project images from eight inches up to 50 inches on any flat surface.
