3M reveals the Attest Mini Auto-reader 490M

3M has revealed the Attest Mini Auto-reader 490M, a state-of-the-art, twenty-four-minute in-house-sterilisation monitoring solution, designed to read and incubate Attest Super Rapid Readout Biological Indicators 1492V and 1491.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) outline that biological indicators or spore examinations, which are recommended at least once per week, are the most preferred method for controlling the sterilisation process. These tests measure the killing of a large population of resistant microorganisms and assure dental practices that their sterilisation parameters are met.

According to 3M, the issue here is that the current testing system takes anywhere from one-day to a one-week for results to be processed; however, Attest’s new method will diminish the long waits for results.

Director at 3M Oral Care Solutions Division, Eric Wenzel, stated: “Routine monitoring using super rapid biological indicator technology can help reduce the risk of patient exposure to contaminated dental instruments and the compact size and competitive price of the Attest Mini Auto-reader makes in office monitoring, not just possible but practical for dental offices.”
