3M to offer electro-static risk assessments
3M has announced a collaboration with Challenger Components to offer electro-static risk assessments to UK and Ireland customers.
The technology company said it will assist find potential problems caused by electro-static discharge and advice work practices and solutions. This may prevent failures caused by discharges which may normally be left "hidden".
3M Electronics’ general sales and marketing manager Adrian Hyner explained: "Static is a potential problem everywhere in manufacturing, as well as in assembly and installation – and particularly in electronics manufacturing environments."
While the majority of companies know electric static discharge can cause damage to products through handling, systems can be "rendered ineffective" by work practices, he added.
A face-to-face assessment can pay "massive dividends", Mr Hyner concluded.
In other news which may interest those in scientific sales jobs, 3M has announced the results of a survey into the effects of banning its staff from using hands-free mobile phones while driving.
The ban has had a "positive impact" on personal driving habits as well as driving for work, the company said.
