41% increase in the number of pharmacists working in general practise

Statistics from NHS Digital show that there has been a 41% upsurge in the number of pharmacists working in general practice from September 2018 with figures of 1,304 versus 1,833 in September 2019. The increase in the pharmacist headcount is equivalent to a 38% yearly increase of full-time pharmacists in general practice. Furthermore, the data revealed that 343 pharmacists have been placed into employment since the funding for additional pharmacists in primary care networks (PCNs) in March 2019. The report concluded by noting that non-GP clinical staff are delivering a larger amount of care compared to GP clinical staff due to the number of GPs declining.
