Abbott achieves performance goals for second quarter
Abbot has achieved its performance goals for the second quarter of its current financial year.
In a statement regarding the three-month period, which ended on June 30th, the company announced that its worldwide operational sales increased by a total of 10.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, operational sales of its worldwide medical products rose by 27 per cent and international pharmaceutical operational sales saw a boost of 13.8 per cent.
Diluted earnings per share stood at 89 cents (54p), excluding specified items.
Miles White, chairman and chief executive of Abbott, said: “We achieved our performance goals for the quarter, with results at the high end of our previous expectations.”
He attributed the double-digit operational sales growth to the company’s “diverse mix of market-leading products”, while also praising the firm’s global businesses.
Earlier this month, Abbott announced that it has signed a deal with Oasmia Pharmaceutical, which will see the firm market chemotherapeutic agent Paccal Vet (micellar paclitaxel).
