Abbott puts on Healthfest in Chicago

20th June 2007

Abbott Laboratories is aiming to help residents of the American state of Chicago lead healthier lives through Healthfest.

The event coincides with the annual meetings of both the American Diabetes Association and the American Medical Association, which will take place in the same city.

“Abbott hopes our community involvement will have a lasting impact that continually improves the health of Chicagoans and the people of Illinois in years to come,” said Dr John Leonard, Vice-president of global pharmaceutical research and development at Abbott.

Dr Leonard also suggested that Abbott was giving people the chance to “assess their risk” and develop a better understanding of how certain conditions “can have a serious impact on their lives”.

Health professionals will be provider ten to 15-minute chats about certain topics, while glucose tests and blood pressure tests will also be on hand.

Last week, Abbott made a formal presentation about the company and its activities at the Goldman Sachs 28th Annual Global Healthcare Conference in California.
