Abbott rated a top company for diversity
Abbott has been ranked as a top company for diversity by two publications. The firm was named as an industry sector leader in diversity by Fortune magazine, in addition to being dubbed one of the most admired employers for 2007 by US Black Engineer and Information Technology.
The company was recognised by Fortune for the quality of its strategy and initiatives in diversity, having been chosen by the National Organisation for Diversity in Sales and Marketing.
US Black Engineer and Information Technology magazine assessed firms on the basis of their strong corporate ethics, benefits and learning opportunities, with these areas cited as the most vital by minority employees.
Stephen Fussell, senior vice-president of human resources at Abbott, said: “At Abbott, we value the diversity of our products, technologies, markets and most importantly, our people.”
He added that it is important to the success of Abbott that it has a diversity among its staff, with the company happy to be recognised for its ongoing work to attract and keep employees from minority communities.
Earlier this year, Abbott was listed as one of the top companies for recent university and college graduates to start their careers.
